Meander Hostel in August

This is not a review for the Meander hostel.
Having a drink with Nick, GiHun, Sei and Dan
The common table
Table soccer everyday...
I have stayed at this hostel from the 4th August to the 29th of August 2015.

To do: Scrub the showers and clean the toilets

I can reassure you that the toilets are cleaned every day.

And do it in style

I know this because I have been cleaning them almost everyday!

I found a website call www.workaway.info that matches volunteers and hosts. I have always wanted to work in a hostel so I applied as a volunteer at the Meander Hostel for 26 days.

To do: Prepare beds for new guests

It was hot and humid, therefore i found the work hard at first.

My last night with these awesome folks
At the end of my shift i always look forward to hanging out with my new friends.

Oreo and Passion fruit cheese cake (Yes i made this!)
But one week before i left i was feeling sad.

Posing with the cake, naturally
I was sad because i knew that i have another flight to take. I had to catch a plane to Malaysia and go away from this Hostel.

But i left with sweat memories of you all. Thank you!

Taipei 4th August - 13th August

Welcome to Taipei, Taiwan.

The country with a Family Mart or 7/11 every 50m to satisfy your every need. Check out these buns!

The country that is normal to see cute cartoon games being advertised. Such as the game above, Maple Story. The only story it offered me was '6-7 hours a day in front of the computer screen' during my teenage years. I sent this picture to my friend (who was equally addicted) and we had a stroke of nostalgia.

The country with sausages every where. I took this photo in a Carrefour supermarket. Taiwanese don't joke when it comes to sausages and deep fried chicken.

And the variety of bread on offer in Carrefour... But many more can be found in smaller shops that sell an even great range of savory  and sweet buns. My favorite had to be bread with meat floss.

The country famous for its night markets. Many different dishes to try but I too, have my physical limit. I simply cannot try every food stall in one night.

The country that was lucky enough to offer me the experience of a life time: The biggest Typhoon in Taiwan. It left a trail of destruction...

It had a domino effect...

Things fell from the heavens....

And trees too a nap on pedestrian paths. How rude.

But it could not take my sunset away from me...This was taken when I was walking along the Tamsui River near HuaJiangYanYa Natural Park 華江雁鴨公園

On another day, I hiked to the top of Elephant Mountain 象山 to witness this beauty.

Surrounded with tonnes of hiking trails for me to explore. My second hike was from 劍潭 metro station to 劍南路 metro station. I got lost but I found my way eventually!

Taipei. My home for four weeks and so much more to explore....

Hong Kong 24th July - 4th August

So it began with baby steps. My Cousin's little girl is growing up so fast...

With this little guy who pees everywhere when you play with him.

But the real reason to visit Hong Kong was to attend a friend's wedding ceremony
'
The lucky couple in the middle lives in Sweden.

And this is the street that the Groom's grand father grew up in.

And the surroundings was very 'village'...

A couple of drinks with my Kista friends that I met during my 2012/13 Sweden Exchange Program. The new friends that i met during the wedding also joined us.

But what was Hong Kong really like? Besides the people who talk slowly and gently (sarcasm) and the slow paced environment (sarcasm)... Hong Kong...

Was a beauty from above!

So we did a couple of kicks!

With my Kista Neighbour who will be returning to France to defend her Master Thesis. Good Luck!

And my friend's dad (a local Hong Kong-er). He had so much energy. Could hardly keep up with him.

And who can resist a shot next to the sign post.

Walking around the buzzing streets of Hong Kong with these two beautiful people.

Beautiful People...

And the swim at the beach was wonderful! Located near Ma On Shan.

And on a Sunday we went to Sai Kung. We took the boat to visit a nearby Island.

They used to make Salt on this island. But we didn't care. We just wanted to take photos of ourselves...

And it was a HOT day...We had frozen pineapple and To Fu Fa...

So it was only natural to do jump shots during the sunset

Nothing could do us apart...

Because the friendships that we have formed.....

have been sealed with a Happy Meal :)
